This money easy tree should really be written as “$ Easy Tree”. Making the origami tree is easy; making the money may or may not be easy.
This tree has a trapezoid base so it looks like it is in a box or a tree stand. With a few decorations (such as colored hole punch circles), this money easy tree can be transformed into a Christmas tree.
Florence Temko created another tree that is similar but has the extra bonus of having a straight trunk. Her tree looks as if it is growing from the ground. You can see it here.
Instructions for Money Easy Tree
Start with a crisp dollar bill with the black side facing up.
Orient the money vertically (up and down direction).
Step 1:
Fold and unfold the dollar bill in half lengthwise.

Step 2:
Fold and unfold the dollar bill in half crosswise.

Step 3:
Fold up the bottom-right side of the dollar bill. Start the fold from

Step 4:
Fold the corner of the dollar bill towards the right as shown.

Step 5:
Repeat steps 3 & 4 on the bottom-left side of the dollar bill.

Step 6:
As before, fold the corner to the left.

Step 7:
Repeat steps 3 & 4 on the top-right side of the dollar bill.

Step 8:
Repeat one last time on the top-left side of the dollar bill.
|
Step 9:
Fold the model in half (bottom to top).
|
Step 10:
Fold the top layer back down. The location of the fold is up to personal taste. One option is to have the fold at the O in the word ONE.

Step 11:
Fold the tip of the model back up, again the location of the fold may vary.

Step 12:
Turn the model over and the tree is done.
