Money Easy Box

With just 5 or 6 folds, you can make a money easy box ($ Easy Box). This design was adapted from the classic Magazine Box. It’s easy and fast to make. Once done, you can put coins inside.

Instructions for Money Easy Box

Step 1:

Start with a crisp dollar bill with the black-side facing up.
Fold in half lengthwise, then fold into quarters. Unfold.

Step 2:

Fold and unfold the dollar bill in half crosswise.

Step 3:

Fold the left-edge and right-edge of the dollar bill towards the middle crease made above.

Step 4:

Valley fold the four corners as shown.
The edges of the folds should match up with the 1/4 mark creases made in step 1.

Step 5:

Take the raw edge of the dollar bill and fold it over twice.
First, fold the raw edge of the dollar bill so it meets with the edges of the triangular flaps made above.

Step 5b:

Next, fold the flaps over one more time so they overlap with the corner flaps made in step 4.

Step 6:

Slide your fingers under the layers of paper and lift up.
If necessary, pinch the corners as you lift so the folds don’t unravel.

Allow the left and right sides of the box to lift up and out.
Allow the top and bottom sides of the box to fold up and in.

Pinch the four sides to get sharp corners.

This is how the $ easy box looks like if you started with the green-side of the dollar bill facing up.

If you were very clever and organized, you could fold one box slightly larger than the other so you can use one as the bottom and the other as a lid. To do this, leave a small gap between the edges of the dollar bill in step 3. This will make the box a tiny bit longer. Similarly, if you fold the top and bottom edges of the dollar bill not quite to the center of the bill (step 1) then the box will be slightly wider.
