Learn to make this Heart Corner model which can be used as a corner bookmark or as a paperclip. As a paper clip, it is perfect for sending papers to people in prison – you are not allowed to send anything made with metal to prison inmates.
Origami Heart Corner * Paperclip * Bookmark Instructions
Step 1:
Start with a square sheet of paper: fold it in half (left to right) and unfold. Fold it in half (top to bottom) and unfold. If you are using origami paper, start with the white-side facing up. |
Turn the paper over. |
Step 2:
Fold the paper along the diagonals in both directions; unfold. This gives you a “X” shaped crease superimposed on the “+” crease made above. |
Step 3:
Bring the top-edge of the paper to meet with the bottom-edge of the paper. At the same time, push in the left and right sides. |
In transition… the paper will naturally fold along the creases you’ve already made. When done, the triangular shape is called a waterbomb base. |
Step 4:
Fold the top of the waterbomb base down so it meets the bottom of the paper. |
Unfold. |
Step 5:
Fold up the top layer of paper. Use the crease made in step 4 as a guide. |
In transition. |
Step 6:
Make valley folds so the corners of the waterbomb base fold up and meet at the top of the peak. |
Step 7:
Fold the front structure down. |
Step 8:
Fold the bottom edge of the structure halfway up. |
Step 9:
Peel down the top-most layer of paper. |
Step 10:
Squash down the left and right sides of the paper so it becomes flat. |
Step 11:
Fold up the small flaps as shown. |
Step 12:
To make the heart more rounded, fold up the pointy corners. |
Step 3:
Finally, fold the structure back up so it looks like a heart. |
Done! |
