This is a very cute Easy Origami Cat. You can keep it simple or you can decorate it with eyes, mouth, and whiskers.
You will need two sheets of square paper. One will be for the head and the other will be for the body. You can use two sheets of the same size, but the proportions are better if you use one larger and one smaller sheet of paper. The paper for the head should be 3/4 the size of the paper for the body. The exact size doesn’t matter too much so as long as one sheet is a bit smaller than the other.
Instructions for the Easy Origami Cat
Step 1:
Take the smaller sheet of paper and position it in “diamond” orientation (balanced on one of its corners). If you are using origami paper, place the white-side facing up. Fold it in half both directions to get creases which we can later use as landmarks. Unfold. |
Step 2:
Fold down the top-corner so it meets the middle of the paper. |
Step 3:
Fold down once more along the horizontal creases made in step 1. |
Step 4:
Fold down the left and right sides of the model so they meet at the middle. |
Step 5:
Fold these flaps back up so the corners protrude beyond the top of the model. These will be the ears of the cat. |
Step 6:
Fold down the top corner of the model to make the top of the cat’s head. |
|
Step 7:
Fold up the bottom corner of the model to make the chin. |
Step 8:
Fold down the tip of the paper; this will be the nose. |

Instructions for the Body
Step 9:
Take the larger sheet of paper and position it in “diamond” orientation (balanced on one of its corners). Fold it in half (top to bottom). Unfold. |
Step 10:
Fold the top and bottom edge of the paper so they meet at the crease made above. This is sometimes called a Kite Base because it looks like a kite. |
Step 11:
Fold in half (top to bottom). |
|
Step 12:
Fold up the narrow part of the model so it points up like a tail. |
|
|
Step 13:
Otherwise, continue. Unfold that last fold and make an outside reverse fold. |
|
|
You can pry open the layers of papers of the body and stand the cat upright. |
