Instructions for Easy Candy Cane

Step 1:

Start with a square sheet of paper that is red on one side and white on the back side. Place the paper so it is white-side up and in “diamond” position (balanced on one of its corners).

Fold the paper in half (bottom to top) except not exactly in half. Leave a small gap at the top so a bit of white paper is showing.

Step 7:

Keep going until all the paper has been folded into a flat tube. Depending on the type of paper you use, you may need a dab of glue or a piece of tape to tack down the paper. Otherwise, it might unravel.

Step 8:

Estimate approx 1/3 the distance from one end of the paper. Fold up the paper so it is perpendicular like the letter “L”.

Step 9:

Make another perpendicular fold on the tip of the short end of the “L”. This makes a hook.

Step 10:

Rotate slightly and you’ve got yourself an origami
Candy Cane. Again, depending on the thickness of the paper, you may need to place the candy cane under a heavy book for a couple of hours so the model stays flat.

Try different colored paper, it’s fun!
