This Origami Balloon Bunny is the cutest rabbit ever! The model is a modified waterbomb base and, like the waterbomb, it requires that in you inflate the model by blowing through a small hole. An added feature is that the ears are pried open to show a different color which is pretty cool!
In this example, the bunny will be brown and the ears will be white. If you want the bunny’s body to be white, then start with the white-side of the paper facing up.
Origami Balloon Bunny Instructions
Step 1:
Start with a square sheet of paper with the colored-side facing up. Fold and unfold the paper in half both directions (top to bottom; then left to right). Turn the paper over. |

Step 2:
Fold and unfold the paper along the two diagonals. |

Step 3:
Collapse the paper into a waterbomb base. To do this, fold the top-edge of the paper towards the bottom-edge. At the same time, bring together the left and right edges. |

Step 4:
Fold the two bottom corners to the top of the model. |
|
Step 5:
You will have a diamond-shape on top of a triangle-shape. Fold the left and right corners of the diamond towards the center of the model. |

Step 6:
At the top of the model, you will find a loose flap. Fold the flap down so the edges align with the right edge of the model (join red dots). Repeat with right side. |

Step 7:
Refold the flap and tuck in the loose end of the model into the small pocket made in step 5. Repeat on the right side. |

Step 8:
Repeat step 4 on this side of the model: fold the left and right corners up to the top of the model. |

Step 9:
Mountain fold (fold back) the left corner. This is like step 5 except it is a mountain fold and not a valley fold. Repeat on the right side of the model. |

Step 10:
At the top of the model, peel down the two flaps so they fold out and to the side. These will be the rabbit’s ears. How far you fold is up to personal preference, but the bottom of the fold should not pass the green arrows where the model starts to taper off. |

Step 11:
Rotate the model upright so the red dot is pointing up. |
|
Step 12:
Flare open the 4 flaps so they are spread away from one another. The model is more 3 dimensional and less flat. |

Step 13:
Put the model to your lips and flow air into the small hole (red arrow). |
|
Step 14:
The model will inflate and become the rabbits body. Pry open the the ears to show the white-color of the paper. |
